Sunday Save Reaper Watch on The CW!

THIS SUNDAY most CW Affiliates are showing Reaper Season Two on Sundays, 7 pm. (Check your local listings.) So:

--Watch in your timezone. International fans can watch (if they have the episode on hand) at any time during the 4-hour period. First shift: 7 pm Eastern (and maybe 6 pm Central?) all the way through Last showing: 7-8 pm Pacific.

--Tiny chat is set up so Twitterers can
1) Post that they are joining the chat, with a link to the chat.
2) Choose to post their chat comments to their Twitter. Even if you don't, the tinychat will send occasional tweets via your account that you are chatting at tinychat. This is great for spreading the word, but if you don't want that going out, you can just use any nickname and not go thru Twitter.

--Even if you're not on Twitter, you can join the chat.

Write4Reaper Thursday!

We are hereby assigning Thursdays as Write Day. We need to keep up support for the show, and more importantly - let people KNOW we are keeping up support for the show.

While it's best if we all inundate these sites as a united fandom (it's more impressive if 100 people write at once than it is if 100 people write over 100 days), if you cannot do Thursdays then please try and do it as close to Thursday as possible.

We have listed the MUST DO, and left the rest up to you. I recommend contacting if you have the time, simply to keep interest in Reaper open (particularly if the show needs to be sold to cable).

And, it seems Mark Gordon's Company is basically the decider here. Even if ABC Studios passes on everything (which it looks like they may have), it is up to Mark Gordon as to whether they'll continue to fight for the show - either in comic book, animation, or future movie/series form.

Just got official word that there is absolutely no chance of Reaper going another year. It has been dropped by all involved. Boooo. But on a brighter note, There is a comic book coming out and there is some serious talk of it being turned into a cartoon. That could be sweeeeet. I would definitely be into doing a voice on that show. So, I guess thats it. I am officially going to be turning this into a Tyler Labine fan page and would be flattered if you all would stay on board with me. I've become quite fond of chatting with all of you. Nice to know you're out there. If not, that's cool too. Thanks for all of your support guys. For real, you've been awesome fans. None better out there. Talk soon. TY.

Since there are a great many things that can be picked apart in regards to this, I will forgo that and just post the response I wrote over at ReaperDMV:

I wonder if Tyler realizes the inherent inconsistencies in all his posts. This time "there is absolutely no chance of Reaper going another year" conflicts heartily with the "there is a comic book coming out and some serious talk of it becoming a cartoon."

Tyler's not saying anything he hasn't already been saying for weeks now. We know a season this year is increasingly unlikely. However, that doesn't preclude the future, particularly if the comic books sell well and the cartoon does good - assuming we get those that is. So make sure to send in your DVD receipts, and get others to as well.

All Tyler's message does is make people give up even more when they really don't need to if they don't want. remember when I said that one of the hardest things we're fighting against is everyone only getting the "Reaper is Dead" news, so they don't know they can still help? This is just yet another example of that. It's too bad we can't mass email all those people ourselves and tell them if they want to help continue supporting the show anyways, they can come here.

I would recommend continuing to post the Save Reaper stuff as usual there, and if Tyler's serious about shutting down the largest Reaper Facebook group, then perhaps we will need to consider opening up another one or moving to a different one. As a Reaper board, we here will continue to discuss Reaper no matter what form it takes, particularly as we work to get it back in *regular* form. It's not that hard for us to add new boards.

Personally, I'm in the middle, and more to the point where Jenny is. While excited about how good it looked in the beginning, reality has now set in and I am well aware of the obstacles.

IMO, The situation is nowhere near the absolutely-and-utterly-hopeless-so-give-up-completely message as Tyler is making it out to be, simply because of the facts:

1. Reaper the TV show will not air next year, yet there are cases of shows coming back, even after being "canceled" for over a year.

2. The show and story are not dead since they want to do a comic book and/or cartoon

3. We seem at this point to be a fandom that doesn't quite want to give up, even when faced with the reality that this won't be easy

And this doesn't even mention all the stuff I've heard from other people, non-Tyler and non-Jenny.

I have never said this would be easy, or that we would be successful. But I don't really see any REAL evidence that this is beyond ALL hope, or not worth the effort anymore. At the very least, I am still interested in the story, so that will go on because it's not contingent on everyone in the cast getting new jobs that will last for years making a televised show impossible no matter how much we want it.

Will's been a great supporter of the show, so would be nice to comment there so he knows we're reading!

For some reason, all of this makes me feel more hopeful, even in the wake of various updates that Reaper is totally dead. it's been pointed out several shows have come back after "official death" like Futurama, Charles in Charge, etc. We're still doing our Receipts for Reaper and other activities. If we get a comic book or animated series, that just means more chances for our fandom to prove we're serious and maybe we'll get something more in the future. Stick with us!

Reaper - Campaign Update

It's been a fast week, so I am putting this update up to let y'all know about some of the ideas we have come up with to try to help the Receipts for Reaper Campaign.

1. Obviously, the most important one is to buy the DVDs and send in your receipt(s). Click here for the info.

2. Request your local (and university) libraries to purchase the S1 and S2 DVDs. Many libraries don't even have them (including Portland, where Bret's from), and many others have rather large waiting lists. Click here for the info.

3. Donate S1 and S2 DVDs. It's tax-deductible, and a great many places want them - including libraries (esp. rural) and local hospitals. There is even a program to donate DVDs to the US Troops, as well as vets. Click here for the info.

4. Spread the word. Use Craigslist, among other advertising mediums, to drum up support for the show. Post on your local CW affiliate website. We will VERY shortly be starting a rewatch program (where we will watch the episodes again once a week) in order to keep up interest. We're trying to hold "watch" parties on Twitter, etc. So keep posting to let people know about what's going on. Click here for the info.

5. We've set up a thread where we can list places we need Reaper fans to swarm with their Reaper love. :D Click here for the info.

6. International fans: We are trying to figure out ways to try to petition Lionsgate to get the DVDs released internationally. You can help with ideas by clicking here.

We've heard on good authority that if we can prove there is a market for this show, it would give more force to the fight for a Reaper Season Three in syndication. We're gathering 1000 people to send a letter/note/card or piece of paper with THEIR REAPER DVD RECEIPT.

2) Male/female, age.
3) Viewing area, cable company.

Get friends and family to pitch in. Combine your people on one or two documents, that would make it a lot easier for us to organize on this end.

Reaper - Receipt Petition Update

Okay, so far we don't have a PO Box for y'all to send your recent receipts for Season 1 and/or Season 2 to. I will get back to you on that. We have been informed though, that you can scan them in and email them to us if you want.

Please include your name, address, age, M/F, and anything else you would like. I would ask that you try and keep it to no more than 1/3 to 1/2 a page (postcard size is best) so that when I print them out I can put more than one per page - saving paper and money.

Make sure to spread the word too. If you have friends, coworkers, family that you know of that bought - gather those receipts too. Heck, if you work for an electronic store, tell the customers who buy the DVDs from you! :D

Save Reaper Receipts Campaign

New approach. We've been advised to Show Them The Money to convince ABC Studios and others that it's in their financial interest to Save Reaper. The plan is still being formed, but the idea is to gather 1000 signatures including Reaper DVD receipts and send them to the Powers that Be. Details:

I just wanted to say that on behalf of myself and the cast, we had a great time on this show and REALLY appreciate the fans out there that fought endlessly to keep Reaper on the air. We're disappointed that we won't be coming back but are grateful for the memories we have from the last two seasons. For me, it was more than just a job since I was able to go back home, where I spend the majority of my life, and spend a couple years with my family and friends. It really was the biggest blessing!! I have no idea where I'm going next, but I look forward to whatever it is.

Thank you again for your undying support, it did not go unnoticed.

I don't know if this can help or not, but if anybody wants to get in touch with Kevin Smith, the easiest way to do so is through the ViewAskew board: http://viewaskew.com/newboard/index.html He at least reads every post addressing him. He may be willing to help out the Save Reaper campaign through word of mouth, though he is busy shooting a new movie right now, so it's completely dependent on time.
